Let’s face it – we don’t always have an Instagram husband or wife to follow us wherever we go and take cute photos while we pretend to be candid. But that doesn’t mean you can’t take your own photographs for your fashion blog/Instagram! Here are a few of my quick tips on how to take your own outfit photos when you’re on your own.

Use A Tripod
So the #1 tool you’ll need to take your own outfit photos is a tripod! You don’t have to invest in anything fancy or expensive when you’re first starting out. There’s plenty of decent yet affordable ones available on Amazon. A tripod is going to be your best friend. Find one that’s light and portable so you can take it with you on the go and set it up where you need to.
Octopus iPhone Tripod
If you don’t want to lug around an actual tripod and you’re more into iphoneography, that’s okay too! You can get a little iPhone mount with flexible legs so you can adjust it to stand anywhere. You can even wrap it around things like poles, building structures, etc. to capture your outfit photos from any height and angle.
Use A Camera Remote
Ask A Stranger
Okay so this one technically isn’t taking a photo without another person’s help, but if you’re alone and not on the shy side, you can definitely ask a random passerby to snap a photo of you. To get the best results, you can frame the shot first and take a test photo to show them exactly how you want them to take it. Don’t be afraid to tell them where to hold it, where to stand etc. – just be friendly and polite about it, of course! You can also ask them to take a burst of photos so you can have options and choose the best from the group.
Hope these tips helped! Now go out there and work it.
