Last year, I left my study abroad program in Europe and came home with 7 extra pounds. That might not seem like the most drastic weight gain, but for someone petite like me, you can see a noticeable difference. I had a little bit too much fun trying out every street food I saw, from gelato to crepes to giant pretzels the size of my head. And what I thought was an innocent beer with friends here and there turned out to be more dangerous than I thought.
I did initially make an effort in trying to shed pounds, but changing up my diet and eating salad every single day wasn’t doing it for me. And I’m not big on exercise either, because I can’t seem to make it a habit, so I just stayed at this new weight for about a year.
Recently, I got the opportunity to collaborate with SkinnyMint and try their 28 Day Teatox. I’m testing to see how well this teatox works without changing any other lifestyle factors. I don’t want to change too many variables in my lifestyle at once or else I won’t be able to tell what is effective. So that means I’ll continue eating the same diet I have now and maintain the same physical activity level (which is almost close to never working out if we’re being completely honest here). I do have a fitness tracker though, and on average I walk about 4500 steps a day. But besides that, I’m pretty inactive because I have a 9-5 desk job and don’t really have a workout routine.
So are you curious to see how effective it was? Keep reading to find out!
What is SkinnyMint and What’s a Teatox?
SkinnyMint offers products to kickstart your weight loss, boost your resting metabolic rate, and keep your hunger and snacking habits at bay. A teatox is a tea detox you do by drinking tea every morning and every other night. You can choose from the 14-day or 28-day program!
The 28 Day Teatox is a two-step program that requires you to drink one tea in the morning before/with your breakfast, and one tea every other night after your last meal. These two teas combined bring maximum results.
From their website, it says:
“The Morning Boost is designed to give you a boost throughout the day and start the morning right. It contains Green Tea, Yerba Mate and Guarana with a naturally sweet fruity taste. The Night Cleanse is designed to naturally purify the body which could lead to reduced bloating. It contains all natural ingredients to promote the restoration process.”
The Morning Boost contains: green tea, nettle leaves, yerba mate, dandelion, and guarana fruit. The Night Cleanse contains: ginger root, lemon grass, peppermint, hawthorn berries, orange leaves, senna leaves, licorice root, and psyllium husk.
*Just a disclaimer: this product is not approved by the FDA so use at your own discretion! If it starts causing pain or discomfort do not continue using it! Also, if you are pregnant, under 15 years old, or have pre-existing health conditions, it is not recommended you take this.
Do Teatoxes Work?
Overall, I’m pleased with how the teatox has been working! The program is super simple to follow. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about whether or not it would work, but I also thought I wouldn’t be losing much if I didn’t see any results. After all, I put in pretty minimal effort and the most work I had to do was just remember to drink tea for 28 days.
I’ve been doing this teatox for about two weeks and I’m down 3 pounds already! It’s helping me slowly get to my goal of losing those 7 extra pounds.
