As my 23rd birthday just passed and the end of the year is approaching, I’ve been spending time contemplating on how I can continue to improve myself and plan for the new year. Here’s my list of New Year’s Resolutions.
Balance My Time Better
When I was in college and super busy all the time, I felt like I was MORE productive than I am now. I feel like I’m less motivated to get more done now that I’m post-grad. Weird, huh?! At the end of the day, I get home from work and I just want to be a couch potato. It’s time to balance my time better again! I would love it if I could better allocate my time to spend quality time with family and friends, read/learn more, do arts & crafts, work out, and blog more of course!
Make it a Point to Remember People’s Names
I’m not sure if this goal sounds silly but – I’m probably not the only one. I feel like I have a bad habit of forgetting someone’s name literally right after they’ve introduced themselves to me. I usually have a hard time remembering unless I encounter them again (or at least hear about them again) in the future. I’d like to make it a point to remember people’s names better. I feel like this would be good for me in general, but also for business since I do have a client-facing job and would like to maintain professionalism.
Stick to a Health/Wellness Plan
Every single year I say my New Year’s Resolution is to go on a diet, hit the gym at least 3x a week, etc. etc. I commit to it for a couple months and then I just completely disregard it so I never get to the point where I see results. 2017 was definitely a year of indulgence – a lot of eating out and going on foodie adventures, plus I never fully recovered from when I was studying abroad and eating my way across Europe. Right now, I feel like I’m give-or-take five pounds more than I’d like to be, and I don’t look as slim as I used to.
I recently started a new eating plan called intermittent fasting which is supposedly really effective at burning fat while maintaining muscle mass. I would really like to stick it out long enough to see a real difference. That’s what I am trying to hold myself to. It would be great if I could get back into the workout groove too though!
Keep Building Up My Instagram
Towards the middle of 2017, I started Instagramming with intent. I’ve always loved sharing my thoughts and experiences about everything I try (me blogging for the past 8 years or so is proof of that), and I found that Instagram was a platform where I could more easily reach people. So, I took my profile off “private”, started posting more high quality content, and engaging with the IG community.
From that, I’ve been able to grow my followers over 300% in the past six months or so. With all that growth also came new opportunities. I’ve worked with several brands back in the day but most of them involved me reaching out to their PR team. Nowadays, the brands I work with reach out to me, which is such an amazing feeling! I love how my efforts have helped me become an influencer and I strive to keep growing my brand and page in 2018.
Monetize My Blog
I’ve been blogging for fun for YEARS, as it’s one of my passions and favorite hobbies. Sharing what I know and helping out my friends (yes if you’re a reader, I consider you a friend <3) is something I love to do. I want to continue on this blogging path but start making a business out of it – perhaps something based on the content I’ve been writing for Blogging Tips and Instagram Tips to help entrepreneurs/hobbyists succeed! I’ve been doing tons of research and I’m still working on developing a business plan, but 2018 is definitely the year I want to get this ramped up!
So those are the goals I am going to set out for in 2018! What are your New Year’s Resolutions? Leave a comment and let me know! This is also probably my last post for 2017 so if you don’t hear from me again in the next few days, I hope you all have a safe and wonderful New Year’s Eve with all your loved ones!
